Which personality interested you the most? Why? Gabrielle Roy is a French Canadian who grew up in a poverty in Manitoba.Gabrielle lived from1909-1983.Canadian literature changed in 1945 and So did the life of Gabrielle .

Here is her timeline

1909 She is Born on March 22 in St Boniface, Manitoba to a big, French-Canadian family.

1915 The family is impoverished by her father’s unemployment.


1929 Gabrielle Embarks on a career as a teacher.

1937 Gabrielle Roy Goes to Europe and begins to write.

1939 Gabrielle Returns to Canada and works as a journalist in Montreal.

1945 In 36 publishes Bonheur d’occasion

1947 She Marries Marcel Carbotte and moves to Paris France .1

950 She Returns to Quebec City and over the next three decades produces many major works.


1983 She Dies on July 13 in Quebec
